Fort Valley State University Department of History, Geography, Political Science, and Criminal Justice is home base for students interested in pursuing a career in politics, government, law, law enforcement, education, and other careers of consequence to society.
The currently offers three four-year degree programs:
- The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in History
- The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science
- The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Criminal Justice.
Minors are also available in:
- Criminal Justice
- Political Science
The department has hundreds of students pursuing degrees and full-time faculty members with various research interests. Faculty members have authored books, published numerous scholarly articles and book reviews, and contributed to major reference works. They have served as consultants, presented papers at national professional conferences, and served on the editorial boards of academic journals.
The department has designed its programs to meet the needs of both traditional and non-traditional students. Classes are offered during the day, in the evening, and on the web.
