Academic Affairs

The Office of Academic Affairs supervises academic personnel and oversees the fiscal affairs of four colleges:

  • Agriculture, Family Sciences and Technology
  • Arts and Sciences
  • Education
  • Graduate Studies and Extended Education

Other units under the supervision of Academic Affairs include:

  • The Retention Services Center
  • Collaborative and Outreach Programs
  • The Learning Resource Center
  • Office of Assessment and Accountability
  • Testing Center

Under the auspices of the Office of Academic Affairs are several outstanding academic programs and support services to facilitate and ensure the successful matriculation of students from enrollment through graduation.


The Cooperative Developmental Energy Program (CDEP) is the only program of its kind in the nation. Through partnerships with research and energy industries, CDEP prepares students for technology-oriented employment in energy and related fields.


The Biology Program produces the highest number of minority students who enroll in medical or dental school than any other university in the state.


The Georgia Goat Research and Extension Center is the largest facility of its kind, east of the Mississippi. In addition to state-of-the-art research, the facility also provides for the processing of small ruminants and houses a dairy store.


The Warner Robins site will offer undergraduate, graduate, and outreach programs.


The Retention Services Center provides academic, social, and emotional support services to students via tutorial programs and counseling and referral services.


Other programs in academic affairs are characterized by highly qualified faculty and staff, technology-oriented academic programs and opportunities for international travel, cutting edge agricultural research and outreach services.

In the area of graduate studies, programs are offered to improve the environment of the local community, such as the master of public health program in environmental health and programs designed to prepare professionals in mental health counseling, guidance and counseling, and rehabilitation counseling, and the preparation of professional educators.
