Academic Advising

FVSU Get RegisteredAcademic advising is an important part of FVSU’s commitment to the process of educating our students. Advising involves both the development and communication of accurate information regarding course selection, degree programs, resources, university policies/procedures, and career opportunities intended to assist students in attaining educational goals.

The CRS’ academic advisors provide academic advisement services to freshmen and sophomores (all students that have earned 0-59 credit hours). Faculty provide academic advisement to students in their major areas (all students that have earned 60 or more credit hours). The academic advisement process involves the development of mutual relationship develop by the student and their assigned advisor.

March is Advisement Month! #FVSUGETREGISTERED

Academic advisement and early registration for the summer and fall 2017 semesters begins on March 13, 2017. Freshmen and sophomores (0-59 credit hours) are required to visit with their academic advisor in the Center for Retention Services . Juniors and seniors (60 credit hours or more) are required to visit with their respective academic department to schedule an appointment with their faculty advisors for registration.

There will be an Early Registration Kick-Off held Monday, March 13 in the Lyons Student Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event will provide an opportunity to review balance sheets, meet with academic advisors, register for summer and fall 2017 courses, and complete the FAFSA for the upcoming 2017-18 academic year.
