In addition to over three years experience as an assistant professor, Dr. Akbar has been awarded a post doctoral associateship, as well as a fellowship at Northwestern University’s Summer Institute in Performance Studies. Dr. Akbar is an active member of several professional associations including the National Communications Association, the Association of Theatre in Higher Education and the Black Theater Network.
