Team Success Summer Program

Event Date:
Fri, 2013/03/22 - 11:00am - Fri, 2013/04/05 - 5:00pm

High school students across Georgia are invited to participate in Fort Valley State University's Team Success summer program, June 3 - July 12, 2013. For six-weeks, students will learn about careers and programs within FVSU's Cooperative Extension Program and agriculture and family & consumer sciences fields.

The acronym, TEAM, stands for teaching, enlightening, achieving and mentoring. Students are paired with extension agents and program assistants who work throughout the state. They earn a $2,100 stipend and are exposed to careers in agriculture and extension, which provides services to youth, seniors, and farmers, for instance. Participants get hands on instruction in areas such as organic gardening, horticulture, food and nutrition and farming. A student’s day could be spent visiting a local farmer or working with the agent coordinating a workshop about biodiesel production.

The FVSU College of Agriculture, Family Sciences and Technology program is a great résumé builder that teaches work ethics, professionalism and the importance of community service.

  • Students earn a $2,100 stipend.
  • The program runs from June 3 to July 12.
  • Application Deadline has extended to: Tuesday, April 23, 2013. Download the application below.
