FVSU Weather Alert

The Fort Valley State University Emergency Planning Committee is monitoring weather changes and making preparations for hazardous weather conditions. A heavy weather front is descending on us from the west and probably will arrive here within the next hour or so.

13WMAZ reports that a tornado watch for most of Central Georgia has been extended to 8 p.m. These counties are covered by the watch: Baldwin, Bibb, Bleckley, Crawford, Dooly, Hancock, Houston, Jones, Macon, Monroe, Peach, Pulaski, Putnam, Taylor, Twiggs and Wilkinson. The National Weather Service says watch means conditions are favorable for tornado producing storms to develop.

Concerned employees may take approved leave for the remainder of the day. The Fort Valley State University Emergency Planning Committee will continue to provide updates as they become available.

-Dr. Dwayne Crew, chair of the Emergency Planning Committee

Students should use their discretion as to whether they should attend evening classes. In case of a tornado go to the HPE complex.
