Mathematics in the Valley Day
Is a one-day event held the last Saturday in October targets middle and high school students who are considering entering a mathematics-related field as a career option. Activities during the day include a mini-mathematics conference with speakers from career professionals and a mathematics competition between teams of high school students as well as middle school students.
Mini-Conference (For High School Students Only)
The mini-conference features 10-15 minute talks on one or more of the following topics: Actuarial Science, Risk Analysis, Mathematics, Mathematics Education, and Probability and Statistics.
High School Mathematics Jeopardy Competition
The math jeopardy competition is a three- round event. Questions will follow the format similar to Jeopardy, as seen on TV. Each team may have a maximum of four members. Each school can have more than one team if space is available. This event will be held in the Pettigrew Building.
Middle School Mathematics Competition
The middle school competition will consist of a written test and double elimination rounds. This event will be held in the Computer Science and Mathematics Building.
