It is the mission of Student Life and Development to complement the academic program of studies at Fort Valley State University and enhance the overall educational experience of students through the development of, exposure to, and participation in social, cultural, intellectual, recreational and governance programs. While the scope of Student Life and Development is broad, the development program is founded in encouraging students to explore and participate in activities that provide opportunities for self-realization and growth in individual and group settings.

Students are strongly encouraged to participate in the various clubs, organizations, fraternities, sororities, and honor societies that are available to them at FVSU. Some organizations are open to all students; some are open to students majoring in a specific discipline. All of them afford many opportunities to grow academically, socially and personally.
