“We want to do our level best not to turn anyone away, because that one student who leaves may be the one person who has a cure for cancer.”
-President Larry E. Rivers,
22nd Annual Black History Month Scholarship Luncheon
Since its inception in 1987, FVSU’s Black History Month Scholarship Luncheon has generated more than $1.5 million in scholarships making it the university’s single largest scholarship fundraiser. In 2010, proceeds raised from the event helped to provide nearly 200 deserving FVSU students with scholarships to defray the costs of further education. As of May 5, 2011, $121,153.48 has been raised from the 2011 Black History Month Scholarship Luncheon.
The annual scholarship luncheon is held the third Monday in February (President’s Day). Lunch is served at 12:00 p.m. followed by the scheduled program. Each luncheon will introduce our scholarship recipients, legacy award recipients, have a keynote speaker and recognize our sponsors.
