A report released November 5 by the USG shows that Fort Valley State University enjoyed the second greatest increase in enrollment among Comprehensive Universities in the system. FVSU’s enrollment of 2,695 was a 3.9 percent increase over last year’s 2,594 students. We also ranked third this year among Comprehensive Universities in percentage of full-time students.
Almost 90% of the incoming freshman class (88.7%) declared a major in the College of Arts and Sciences. As has been the case for the last couple of years, Criminal Justice and Psychology led the way, but Mass Communication, Biology, and Management were also strong. Our newest majors, MS in Mental Health and MS in Rehabilitation Counseling and Case Management also reported significant classes.
A lot of hard work by staff and faculty went into turning around the drop in enrollment that we experienced last year, and we are confident that this is the beginning of an upward trend!
