May 1, 2013 – The Georgia Center for Aquaculture Development, part of Fort Valley State University’s Cooperative Extension Program, is sponsoring a workshop called “Introduction to Aquaponics” on May 2. The workshop will take place from 1-5:00 p.m. at FVSU’s Agricultural Technology Conference Center located at 46 Camp John Hope Road in Fort Valley. The workshop is open to the public with a registration fee of $5.
Some of the topics to be discussed include aquaponic system design and management,tilapia production and marketing in farmers’ markets. Tours of the FVSU aquaculture greenhouses are also scheduled.
“People who are interested in this enterprise can add it to their agricultural operations,” said Dr. Pat Duncan, director of the Georgia Center for Aquaculture Development at Fort Valley State.
