Fort Valley State University Pre-College Academy
Fort Valley State University’s (FVSU) Pre-College Academy (PCA) is a program designed as a transition between high school and college. It is created to help selected students, who meet well-defined criteria increase their chances of becoming eligible to attend college after completing high school. PCA includes a total of five weeks of intensive remediation in the subjects of English, Reading, and Mathematics, surrounded by a wealth of academic support services such as tutoring, mentoring, supplemental instruction, self-paced labs, and experiences that include aspects of college orientation, campus-centered activities, and higher education socialization.
The goal of PCA is to prepare students in core educational areas so that they might achieve college acceptance. In addition, the program includes an array of speakers, activities, and weekend activities centered on topics related to college orientation. The intent is to create awareness of and to motivate interest in the postsecondary experience.

Where will I live as a student in the Pre-College Academy?
All students will reside in one of the residence halls on the campus of FVSU. All participating students are required to live on campus for the duration of the five week program.
Will I be allowed to make routine visits home?
The Pre-College Academy is designed to acclimate students to the total postsecondary experience, therefore program facilitators strongly discourage weekend travel away from the campus.
Are meals covered in the cost for attendance?
Student participants will be provided three meals a day from the university’s on campus dining services.
Am I responsible for books for the courses I will be enrolled in?
Student will not be responsible for books. Instead, participants will be issued learning packets that have been prepared by course instructors.
