April 1, 2013 – Fort Valley State University is participating in the fight against cancer by offering a family-friendly fundraiser April 6.
FVSU’s Equestrian Club teamed up with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to offer the Saddle Up for St. Jude event. At 11 a.m., the public is invited to the FVSU Livestock Pavilion located off of Carver Drive on campus.
Activities will include pony rides, a silent auction, horse trail ride and fun show. The fun show is free and the other activities range from $5-$15. The fees and donations collected will go towards St. Jude’s pediatric cancer research.
Sara Dzimianski, FVSU’s equine program manager, said the event will offer a good time for the entire family, while simultaneously supporting a good cause. “Our contribution, along with others, can make a huge impact on children suffering from cancer,”Dzimianski said. Also, she added, this will be an opportunity for community members to become acquainted with the equine center.
Persons interested in attending can pre-register online at www.stjude.org/saddleup, click on “participants” and look for FVSU. They can also register and make donations on-site. Donations will only be accepted by check, cash or money order.
