Feb. 26, 2014 – High school students received a taste of the blue and gold life on Fort Valley State University’s campus this weekend at the Winter Open House on Saturday, Feb. 15. More than 116 attendees interacted with FVSU administrators, faculty, staff and students, and learned about the univeristy’s degree programs.
FVSU academic areas shared in-depth information about undergraduate and graduate programs. Information about financial aid and campus life programs were also presented. The university’s Rose City Alumni Chapter (led by Dr. Charlene B. Hampton), and the Augusta Alumni Chapter (led by Kenneth Ivey) brought busloads of high school students to their alma mater to familiarize them with the scholarly offerings at FVSU.
“Plans are underway for additional alumni chapters across the state to bring students to the March 22 event,” said Sha-Ron E. Jones, director of recruitment and admissions. “The anticipated turn out for spring’s open house will be greater as students begin to narrow their choices for fall 2014 attendance.”
