April 8, 2016 – Fort Valley State University’s Office of Sponsored Programs will recognize university faculty and staff members for their outstanding efforts to secure grants and external funding during the 2016 Spring Training and Recognition Program in the C.W. Pettigrew Center at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 21.

According to Joyce Johnson, post-awards and program coordinator, the theme for this year’s conference is “Excellence in Grantsmanship.”

“In the Office of Sponsored Programs we understand and appreciate the effort, aptitude and hard work required to submit successful proposals,” Johnson said. “Additionally, we often congratulate the winners of grant awards, and require good stewardship of those grant funds. With the Spring Training and Recognition Program, we strive to give a little extra recognition, which by any measure is well deserved.”

The keynote speaker for this year’s conference will be Charles E. Jones, FVSU’s legal officer and director of government relations. Prior to joining FVSU in June 2011, Jones was co-partner of the law firm of Jones and Oliver, PC in Fort Valley, Ga. for 20 years.  His area of practice involved the areas of municipal, civil and criminal law.  The attorney has also served as a state certified mediator and arbitrator.

The recognition program is open to FVSU project/program directors and principal investigators who have submitted proposals.
