April 8, 2016 – Individuals can receive free tests to learn about the current status of their health during Fort Valley State University’s upcoming Wellness for Life Health Fair. The event will take place Wednesday, April 20, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Health and Physical Education Complex.  The event is free and open to the community.

According to FVSU’s Health and Physical Education instructor Dwain Powe, the health fair is an annual event on campus. The instructor said the event has saved lives.

“One year, we had a young man who had an elevated blood pressure of more than 300,” he said. “He was scared that he was going to have a stroke.” The young man was taken to see a doctor, which possibly saved his life.

During the health fair individuals can obtain free blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol testing. More than 20 vendors will also be available to answer questions.
