December 3, 2015 – The Office of Campus Police and Safety will conduct mandatory searches of all individuals entering the Fall 2015 Commencement exercises on Saturday, Dec. 12 as part of its efforts to ensure this year’s graduation ceremony is safe one. The searches at the Health and Physical Education Complex will include purses, camera bags and jackets.

Campus Police and Safety Chief Kenneth Morgan said the department is instituting the searches due to the recent rashes of shootings and acts of terrorism around the country. The searches are being conducted to ensure the general safety of everyone on campus.

Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. at the Health and Physical Education Complex for commencement ceremonies. Families should arrive an hour prior to the 9 a.m. commencement to avoid the traffic on campus, and to ensure that they can go through the search process smoothly.

Individuals will be required to have a ticket in order to attend this year’s graduation. Guests are also encouraged to report anything suspicious that they might see to FVSU’s Office of Campus Police and Safety.
