FVSU SAFE Tips April 27-May1

Fort Valley State University has launched the Safety Awareness For Everyone (SAFE) campaign. Several times a week, our campus will provide you with personal safety tips that will help you protect yourself and remain safe on or off campus. If you have a crime to report, contact Campus Safety at (478) 825-6211, or if it is an emergency, call the Fort Valley City Police at 911.

Guarding against Robbery and Assault

Tip 1: Always keep doors and windows to your apartment locked, especially when you are alone or sleeping or the apartment is left unoccupied (even if only for a few moments). Most burglaries involve unlocked doors, so locking up is the single most effective action you can take to reduce theft.
Tip 2: Let a family member or friend know your destination and your estimated time of arrival or return. That way, the police can be notified as quickly as possible if there is a problem.

Off-Campus Safety Tips
Tip 1: If you’re living in an off-campus apartment, make sure that all windows on the ground level can be locked and are kept locked.
Tip 2: If you’re living off-campus, make sure that all windows on the ground level can be locked and are kept locked. Remember the basic rule of prevention is to be sensible and stay alert. For additional tips on safety visit, www.fvsu.edu/safe.
