FVSU to host 2015 Celebration of Scholarship Day

October 9, 2015 – Fort Valley State University will host its third annual Celebration of Scholarship Day on Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the C.W. Pettigrew Center. Following the event, honored scholars will give a Scholars’ Lecture in the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), located in Hunt Memorial Library, from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m.

According to Dr. Ian Toppin, the director for the Offices of Enhancing Critical Thinking and Center for Teaching and Learning, FVSU’s Celebration of Scholarship Day is held to distinguish faculty who have put out adjudicated journals and publications during the previous year. This presentation also awards those who become finalists after being chosen for an excellence award in research, teaching, or service.

“The event highlights the astonishing erudition and research that is taking place on our campus that wouldn’t otherwise be recognized by the FVSU community,” Toppin said. “It emphasizes how culminating FVSU’s education is, and the fact that the quality of the teaching and mentoring staff is something to be acknowledged and proud of.”
