Green House Manager


College of Agriculture, Family Sciences, and Technology

The Green House Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the FVSU green house.


• Work closely with project leaders to determine equipment and supplies required for experiments
• Receive and implement special instructions regarding trials
• Suggest practical solutions to possible technical problems
• Supervise greenhouse workers and student employees in potting and benching plant materials, watering and fertilizing plants, and spraying and fumigating for insect and disease control
• Present workshops to various audiences
• Order and maintain inventory
• Perform other job-related duties as required


• B.S. in Agriculture, preferably Horticulture
• Three years of greenhouse experience in the propagation and care of plants
• Three years of supervisory experience
• Knowledge of the effects of environment, nutrition, and chemical factors on plant growth
• Working knowledge of the maintenance and repair of greenhouse equipment
• Ability to follow experimental design and special treatment instructions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
