The Associate Dean for Academic Programs provides leadership and administrative oversight with the goal of excellence in the academic programs of the College of AHEAP including: Primary leadership and oversight responsibility for instruction, admissions, recruitment and retention, orientation, student advising, student records, scholarships, career advising and placement of undergraduate students, program reviews and development of new curriculum initiatives; Education and General budget development and faculty development initiatives; Serve as the College’s liaison to the Graduate College on matters of academic policy and programs concerning graduate students; Assist with representing the College on academic policy matters at the campus, state, regional, and national levels; participation in College-level decisions concerning promotion and tenure of faculty members, annual performance evaluation and salary recommendations; Supervision of personnel and administers budgetary and fiscal matters in the Office of Academic Programs; Leadership of programs to recognize excellence in teaching and to provide teaching improvement opportunities for faculty, and instructors. In fulfilling these responsibilities, the Associate Dean for Academic Programs reports directly to the Dean of the College of AHEAP and works closely with the Associate Dean for Research, the Associate Dean for Extension, the departments heads and coordinators within the College.
Applicant must have a doctorate in a field of study associated with one of the academic departments in the College of AHEAP and demonstrated excellence in instruction, research and ext3nsion at levels that qualify for a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of a full professor in a department of the College. The successful applicant will be dedicated to serving students, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, understand the scholarship of teaching and learning, have successful experience in managing budgets and grants, have administrative or leadership experience in educational programs, be involved in national, state, and local professional organizations, and appreciate the broad mission of a land-grant university, particularly a 1890.
