The Executive Director of the Academic Success Center provides leadership in implementing comprehensive student academic assistance and support service programs to facilitate successful matriculation from enrollment through graduation. Specific duties include: Supervising staff and providing on-going training to ensure that they remain current policies; working closely with academic deans and advisors, establishing and coordinating relationships for collaborative advisement and referrals; coordinating programs and activities with those of other units of the university, especially academic affairs, student affairs, learning support, health services, counseling, testing and tutorial services to ensure that student needs are met; establishing and maintaining a website and producing publications to provide students with timely information about services of the ASC; obtaining grants to support the ongoing and expanded activities of the ASC;serving on the Curriculum Committee, the President’s Recruitment Task Force, Registration and Retention Committees, and other committees as deemed appropriate.
A master’s degree required, Ph.D. preferred in a discipline related to services provided by the ASC. Prior experience with first-year, freshman, or academic advising center required; excellent oral and written communication skills; an interest in working with prospective students and their families; the ability to work with diverse populations; proven leadership ability; a customer service oriented philosophy; exceptional organizational skills and the ability to attend to multiple tasks effectively and efficiently are required; membership in NACADA desired.
