The College of Agriculture, Family Science, and Technology at Fort Valley State University is seeking applications for a creative, committed individual to fill the full time position (40 hours per week) of Program Assistant with the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP).

Responsibilities: 

The Program Assistant - EFNEP will recruit homemakers in a specified territory to teach nutrition lessons. He/she will conduct nutrition education learning experiences with identified audience by food demonstrations and by using identified nutrition education curricula. This employee will conduct special programs and events in targeted communities and schools as directed. Also, assessment of participants’ nutritional needs using program tools and will make referrals to appropriate resources. He/she identifies and implements the nutrition education plan to achieve program goals. Routinely collects, compiles and updates program data, needed for reporting. The employee is required to participate in all in-service trainings, with some overnight travel, and other duties assigned.

Qualifications: 

A high school diploma or GED is required, but some postsecondary education is preferred. In addition,
a) two (2) years of work experience in food and nutrition or related areas.;
(b) knowledge and successful experience in working with, small and large groups;
(c) effective oral and written communication skills; (d) ability to be creative and innovative in educational programming;
(e) ability to work effectively with a diverse staff, students, extension staff and clientèle;
(f) a valid driver’s license and use of insured automobile during work day with mileage reimbursement according to policy.
