Responsibilities: 

• Assist researchers in laying out plots for both field and greenhouses
• Calibrate field equipment, and apply herbicide, pesticide, and fertilizer
• Perform maintenance/repairs on station equipment and vehicles
• Perform general carpentry, welding, and planting and harvesting of various crops
• Assist with training students on modern farm practices

Qualifications: 

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Georgia driver's license, CDL preferred
• Two years experience working on a farm with row crops, greenhouses, and/or large and small ruminants
• Experience in welding, carpentry, planting, combing, backhoe operation, landscape, lawn maintenance, and tree pruning

Working Conditions & Physical Effort: 

• Work is performed primarily out-of-doors, and may require exposure to extreme weather conditions
• Job may be physically demanding at times and may require physical exertion including bending, reaching, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, etc.
• Requires long periods of walking, standing, and sitting
