The Project Coordinator (LIFE) will provide leadership for the statewide LIFE program and will foster communication and provide important interface for extension efforts at Fort Valley State University.

Responsibilities: 

• Plan, implement ,and evaluate an effective outcome and impact-based program in support of local and regional issues related to forestry and estate planning
• Develop or work with existing stakeholder-based committees that provide direction for local Extension programs
• Facilitate the development and implementation of forestry and estate planning programs to address the needs of minority landowners throughout the state
• Respond to client requests statewide for information on estate planning
• Facilitate (with LIFE staff) to maintain and update Facebook page, landowner database, mailing list, and email list servers
• Work with industry and community-based organizations to effectively link Extension, forestry, and estate planning to under-served communities
• Model and promote the use of technology, including social media, video conferencing, web-based and other emerging technologies in educational program delivery
• Use the results of program evaluations and feedback in planning future programs and techniques used in implementing programs
• Use up-to-date/current research-based information and data in teaching and stays abreast of emerging issues.
• Supervise student interns throughout the year
• Occasional statewide or out-of-state travel in support of local programs may be required
• Other job-related duties may be assigned

Qualifications: 

• BS Degree (Masters Preferred) in agricultural, forestry, community development, agricultural economics, natural resource management, geography, tourism, or a closely related field
• Two years of relevant experience required
• Experience working with small-scale minority landowners and farmers
• Knowledge and understanding of computer applications and software ability (frequently used programs include those for word processing, presentation software, spreadsheets, and database and web management)
• Experience with organizing and managing events, record keeping, and development of educational materials
• Ability and willingness to implement outreach efforts to ensure nondiscrimination in program identification and delivery. Includes efforts to promote and encourage maximum participation of minorities, women, and other under-served groups in full accordance with civil rights, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Affirmative Action (AA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) policies and procedures
• Strong written and oral communication, negotiation and consensus building skills
• Experience interacting with diverse types of individuals
• Ability to accomplish objectives in both an individual and group- setting
• Familiarity with 1890 & 1862 Land-Grant System of Cooperative Extension and its educational mission
• Knowledge of land grant system and USDA NIFA
