Assistant or Associate Professor of Chemistry
The Fort Valley State University Chemistry Department is actively seeking highly qualified candidates for an Assistant/Associate Professor, tenure track position in Biochemistry, Inorganic or Organic Chemistry. The professor will teach biochemistry, general chemistry and laboratories and be expected to develop research and write grants for external funding.
Primary responsibilities will include lecture and laboratory in the major area and general chemistry courses. In addition to providing quality instruction to students, the successful candidate will be expected to carry a service load within the department and the university as well as be engaged in scholarly activities involving undergraduate students.
The faculty member will advise chemistry majors as well as a wide variety of pre-professional majors and interact with students and other faculty members in several discipline-related organizations and committees.
To be considered, a candidate must have a Ph.D. in chemistry at time of application or have a documented plan of completion by appointment date to be considered. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to quality teaching and scholarly activities involving undergraduates. The professor must be able to develop an active undergraduate research program and pursue external funding.
