The position of Counseling and Distance Education Specialist exists to support online and graduate programs in two departments - the Department of Counseling and the Department of Distance Education (Warner Robins Campus).

The Specialist will provide physical support the Department of Counseling (main campus) on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Department of Distance Education (Warner Robins campus) requires support Wednesday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and alternating Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


The Specialist will establish and maintain effective working relationships and make contact with superiors, subordinates, associates, administrators, and the general public and also exercise initiative in keeping informed of institutional policies, rules, and regulations.

The Specialist provides support to the head of the Department of Counseling in a wide variety of areas including special projects and reports, budgets, correspondence, entering student schedules, assisting students with registration, monitoring the helpdesk, maintaining department head’s calendar, answering phones, coordinating department activities, overseeing general office communications, and prioritizing the workload (60% FTE).

The Specialist also provides support to the Director of Distance Education Advisement and Enrollment by assisting students with registration, monitoring the helpdesk, answering phones, communicating with graduate and online program coordinators, giving general answers regarding financial aid, opening/closing the building and providing customer service at the Warner Robins campus (40% time).

The Specialist will also be required to perform other job-related duties as assigned.


• Bachelor’s degree
• Three years of student service experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Ability to compose effective and accurate correspondence
• Ability to work independently on responsible assignments and secretarial tasks
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to work flexible hours
• Experience with Banner
• Experience with ePro
