April 12, 2013 – Fort Valley State University’s National Society of Black Engineers chapter flew out to the Midwest for an premiere networking opportunity. Twenty six Wildcats recently attended the39th annual NSBE convention, March 27 to 31 in Indianapolis, Ind. The conference focused on leadership, teamwork and inspiration. The students also came to the three-day conference to discuss local chapter issues in the convention.
“The students took advantage of the opportunity to know individuals in other universities,” said Haixin Wang, FVSU’s assistant professor of mathematics and computer science and chapter advisor.
On March 29, students attended workshops, competitions and a career fair that featured 21 companies including Chevron, ExxonMobil, BP, Google, Microsoft and Dell. The group also networked during a small mixer.
Most FVSU NSBE members in attendance were interviews for potential internships. Some students received an internship from energy companies. For more information, please contact Wang at (478) 827-3149.
