Morehouse scored first when Strieff connected on a 33-yard field goal with 6:46 left in the first quarter, but Fort Valley answered back when Garrett Williams connected with Ricard Lockette on a 40-yard touchdown strike to make the score 7-3 FVSU. Morehouse immediately took the lead back when Christopher Sterling threw a 61-yard touchdown pass to Achille Hendje, after the point after attempt, the count was 10-7 Morehouse.
Fort Valley outscored Morehouse 21-7 in the second quarter to take a 31-14 lead into the locker room at the half. Fort Valley scored first in the third quarter when linebacker Bernard Goodrum picked off a pass and ran it 46-yards for a touchdown, and after the extra point Fort Valley led 38-14. Morehouse came back by scoring seven points in the third quarter and 14 more in the final period for the win.
Garrett Williams led the Fort Valley offensive attack by completing 17 of 30 passes for 207 yards and four touchdowns. Sterling led the way for the Maroon Tigers by completing 22 of 33 passes for 368 yards and four touchdowns despite being picked off three times by Wildcat defenders.
