Hall of Fame inductee Doug Porter will be tackling the bright lights of television on behalf of Fort Valley State University to raise money for a worthy cause: scholarships. The former Wildcats coach will be making an appeal for donations to the President’s Scholarship Fund. The money will help keep deserving students on campus.
Porter, who recognizes the need for the new initiative, believes that the money will make a difference in the lives of students. Eula Solomon, FVSU Director of Financial Aid, echoed Porter’s call for scholarship donations. “Our university is literally working overtime to find aid resources for deserving students, but there’s just not enough to go around,” she said. “We need all the help we can get.”
Solomon said the university needs an additional $250,000 to help students immediately. “The money will be put to good use right now, and we will face further needs as we move into the fall semester,” Solomon said. “These are good students who deserve our help.”
