1. When the federal government “selects” your Free Application for Student Federal Aid (FAFSA) for verification, the Office of Financial Aid & Veteran Affairs is required to collect the source documents you used to complete your FAFSA. This process is called the “verification process.”
2. If you receive a letter from the Office of Financial Aid & Veterans Affairs or it is indicated on your Student Aid Report that you have been “selected” for verification and you need to submit several required documents. These documents are as follows:

• Verification Worksheet(Dependent or Independent)
  • Dependent Verification Worksheets 2008-2009
  • Dependent Verification Worksheets 2009-2010
  • Independent Verification Worksheet 2008-2009
  • Independent Verification Worksheet 2009-2010

• Complete and print and send with all other required Verification documents.

• Verification Worksheet Addendum

• Signed Copy of prior year federal tax forms (independent and/or dependent students)

• If you required to file and did not, you must obtain an OFFICIAL IRS transcript stating that you were NOT REQUIRED to file.

• Additional documentation may be required in certain verification cases.

Each of these required documents for verification must be printed from the Web Site, completed in its entirety, signed and mailed to our office within ten days of your notification. You may obtain any of the above verification worksheets at our office in the C.V. Troup Building.
