This winter, prospective students and their families will learn about the best that Fort Valley State University has to offer during a fun and informative event. The university will host its Open House on Saturday, Feb. 15 in the C. W. Pettigrew Center, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. During Open House, the university will showcase its finest academic, research and mentoring programs.
“The Open House event is an extraordinary opportunity for FVSU to showcase its Wildcat spirit,” said Sha-Ron Jones, FVSU’s director of recruitment and admissions. Jones says that the program will give prospective students time to meet personally with college deans and professors in different academic disciplines.
“This will be a wonderful day to interact with everyone associated with the university,” he said. “We want to expose more of the student services and beauty of our campus to help young people make an informed decision about choosing FVSU over other institutions. Visitors will get a chance to see more of the campus and interact with students, faculty and staff. They can also tour our classrooms, laboratories, computer labs and residence halls.”
Students who bring a sealed transcript and test scores can apply for admissions on sight.
During Open House, parents and students can attend sessions to learn from FVSU administrators about how to safely navigate the admissions and financial aid processes. FVSU financial aid counselors will also give tips about completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, forms needed to send to the financial aid office, and how to use the Banner Web system to approve financial aid.
