Parent Orientation

Dear Parent:

Welcome to the Fort Valley State University family! You’ve made a great decision in choosing to be a part of the Wildcat Nation. We believe that family members are an important part of the college experience. Families play an integral role when it comes to the successful transition to college for students. We want to make sure that parents are prepared for upcoming changes in their child’s life. We have created a Parent Orientation web page to help you as a parent learn more about Fort Valley State University, answer any critical questions you might have, and to help make the transition from home to college easier.

We also understand that sending your student to college can be both a time of excitement and uncertainty, and have planned a summer orientation program that will celebrate that sense of excitement and hopefully help calm any uncertainty.

Due to space limitations, students are only allowed TWO adults to accompany them during orientation. The Orientation includes speakers, workshops/seminars and some walking. We ask you not bring young children to any of the sessions. If you or your student has special needs, please let us know so that we can make special accommodations in advance.

Please contact the The Freshmen Experience at 478-822-1070.
