Program Coordinator – Military Science

Job Summary:  The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day fiscal, administrative, and operational activities of the Military Science Department and Army ROTC Program. The Coordinator reports to the Military Science Department Chair.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a Military Science Department principal liaison between students, faculty, staff, other departments, and/or external constituencies on day-to-day programmatic, operational, and administrative issues; facilitates meetings and special projects
  • Coordinates departmental events, such as, Homecoming Parade, Alumni Visits, Military Ball, Awards Ceremonies, Contracting Ceremonies, and Commissioning Ceremonies
  • Performs clerical and administrative support tasks, including creation, typing, and editing of department correspondence, course catalog submission, quarterly newsletter, reports, and other publications
  • Collects and analyzes data; prepares scheduled and special reports; maintains program records and statistical information
  • Provides administrative support in the marketing of the Army ROTC Program
  • May supervise and train student employees, volunteers, and/or interns, as appropriate
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five years’ experience directly related to the duties/responsibilities of the job
  • Experience interacting with executives and senior management
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks with competing priorities
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Must display tact and good judgment in confidential situations

Preferred:

  • Experience working with high visibility university and/or military events
  • Automation Skills such as BANNER, and Blackboard proficiency
  • United States Army Cadet Command experience
  • Executive level office support experience

Working Conditions:

  • Day travel to partner program, Albany State University, as required
  • Evening/night/weekend work is required for special events
  • Climate controlled environment

Physical Requirements: 

Position may require standing or sitting for extended periods of time, lifting objects up to 20 lbs., performing repetitive tasks, and so forth.
