For the Financial Aid Office, the Cost of Attendance (COA) is an estimate of the cost for a student to attend Fort Valley State University. COA is based on the students’ residency, dependency and enrollment status.
The COA includes tuition and fees, books and supplies, room, board, living expenses and loan fees. This is the maximum amount of aid the OFSA can award. Only a combination of scholarships and grants can exceed the COA. If this is the case, we suggest discussing any award amount that exceeds your COA with a tax preparer. The COA is higher than the Direct Cost associated with attending FVSU. Direct Costs are tuition and fees only.
Please keep and refer to the Cost of Attendance page provided with the Award Notification Letter. It will help you to make the best decision on borrowing and how to pay the cost to attend FVSU.
