Frank A. Mahitab

Frank Mahitab is a professional librarian at the Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia for the past 16 years. He received his undergraduate degree in CIS from DeVry University, in Atlanta, Georgia and his graduate degree in Library Science (MLS) from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Frank moved up the professional ranks from being a librarian instructor to assistant professor to associate professor. In his career as a librarian, Frank supervised circulation services at Savannah State and reference services at Fort Valley State University. He was promoted to coordinator of public services at Hunt Memorial Library, appointed assistant director of library for 3 years, interim director of library for 7 years, and director of library services since April 2014.

Frank has been a resident of Kathleen, Georgia for 16 years. Over the years he has also lived in Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia. Serves as member on the Central Georgia Technical College Library Advisory Council. Being involved and staying engaged, Frank chooses to stay positive, making each day count. One of his favorite sayings is by Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Frank believes in reaching out in fellowship, practices patience and shares goodwill. He is married to Paula Bloodworth of Macon, Georgia. They have one son, Immy Bloodworth Mahitab and three cats.
