Mary H. Loomis
Mary H. Loomis, CPA, is a key business and finance leader at Fort Valley State University, having previously served as FVSU’s vice president for business and finance and chief business officer. Previously, she served as the assistant vice president for business and finance and comptroller at Savannah State University. During an eight-year tenure at Savannah State, the administrator developed a five-year ratio analysis that was adopted as an assessment tool by the internal auditor of the University System of Georgia.
Loomis is a seasoned university administrator with a wealth of experience in all aspects of public and private finance. She possesses extensive educational and career experience in business, finance and administration. Loomis earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Augusta State University and a master’s degree in public administration from Savannah State University.
Loomis’ career experience includes financial management positions within the public and private financial sectors, including serving as a certified public accountant for Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, LLC. She also served in several roles with Augusta-Richmond County, including finance officer for the Housing and Neighborhood Development department, and administrative and finance manager for Bush Field Airport and finance director. She was later promoted to assistant director of county utilities for Augusta Utilities.
Loomis has served as president of the National Association of Professional Women, Savannah Chapter. She also has served as a past board member of several United Way organizations and is a 2004 graduate of Leadership Beaufort in South Carolina. Her professional affiliations include the American Society for Public Administration, Georgia Society of CPAs, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Government Finance Officers Association.
