Following a lengthy, transparent review of the entire institution and the performance of its various programs, Fort Valley State University is eliminating several low-producing programs and as a consequence, reducing associated workforce. These changes are part of an ongoing effort to better align the university’s programs and operations with available resources, and are necessary to ensure the long-term financial stability of the institution.
“The decision to reduce our faculty was difficult, but necessary to right size Fort Valley State University and help support the long-term health of our institution. We truly appreciate the commitment and service of the people impacted and thank them for their service to our students and institution,” said Dr. Jessica Bailey, Fort Valley State University interim president. “We are continuing to develop plans for Fort Valley State’s future and that means making sure it provides the right composition of academic offerings.”
