FVSU Summer Camps and Activities

There are many different camps offered at Fort Valley State University during the summer. Come and check out the many ways you can expand your knowledge while enjoying all that FVSU has to offer. If you’re interested in hosting a camp on our campus, please note that all summer camps involving minors will need to complete and submit the FVSU Summer Camp Pre-Registration Form. Each summer camp MUST be pre-registered by May 1, 2017 to receive clearance to complete the registration process. 4-H STEM Summer Camp

4H Summer Camp

Description: This camp prepares participants to meet the science, engineering and technology challenges of the 21st century. Youths become engaged in the process of discovery and exploration related to science, engineering and technology education.

Dates: July 10-14

Deadline: June 28, 5 p.m.

Ages/Grades: 5th – 8th Grades

Academic Adventures Academy

Description: FVSU partnership with Bibb County Schools for college readiness for rising 12th graders

Dates: June 4 – 10

Ages/Grades: 11th Grade

Ag Discovery

Description: FVSU exposed students from across the country to veterinary medicine, animal science and plant science.

CDEP Mathematics, Science and Engineering Academy (M-SEA)

Description: The Mathematics, Science, and Engineering Academy (M-SEA) is a pre-college summer program hosted by the Cooperative Developmental Energy Program (CDEP). M-SEA students are introduced to STEM disciplines, such as mathematics, science, geology, energy, engineering, and health physics through classroom and field trip experiences.

Dates: July 16-29 (out of state students will leave on July 30)

FAME Camp

Description: Rigorous academic training in the areas of the visual and performing arts, as well as in television/radio

Math and Science Summer Bridge

Description: Incoming freshman students who are admitted to the university to join this fall (2017) will be provided with basic content knowledge, hands-on activities, technology usage and/or laboratory in Mathematics, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Nuclear Science and Physics.

Summer Kids University

Description: Educational Programs and Games

Dates: May 30-July 28

Ages/Grades: 1st-8th Grades

Cost: $100 per week, per child, Before and After Care Available, Military and Multi-Child Discounts Available

Teen Success

Description: TEAM Success is a paid six-week summer program that exposes high school students to careers in Agriculture, Family and Consumer Sciences and related areas. Applicants must live in one of the 14 counties where a Fort Valley State University Cooperative Extension Agent or Program Assistant is based. Those counties are Bulloch, Crawford, Dougherty, Hancock, Houston, Irwin, Laurens, Lowndes, Macon, Marion, Peach, Talbot, Terrell and Twiggs.

Upward Bound

Description:  Upward Bound provides opportunities for students to succeed in their pre-college performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. This program is open to Upward Bound students only.

All summer camps involving minors will need to complete the following steps in order to comply with the FVSU Minors on Campus Policy:

Step 1: Complete and submit the FVSU Summer Camp Pre-Registration Form. Each summer camp MUST be pre-registered by May 1, 2017 to receive clearance to complete the registration process.

Step 2: Program Directors and staff must complete and submit the following documents PRIOR to the start of your camp. Once completed, please submit the forms to Interim, Coordinator of Strategic Academic Initiatives at carrj@fvsu.edu. The documents have been converted into an electronic format to ease the process.

Step 3: Program Participants must complete and submit the following documents to the Program directors PRIOR to the start of your camp. Once completed, please submit the forms to Interim, Coordinator of Strategic Academic Initiatives at carrj@fvsu.edu.

  1. Participation Code of Conduct Form
  2. Media, Photo, Video Release Waiver
  3. Release of Liability Waiver
  4. Pick Up Authorization Form
  5. Independent Contractor Insurance (If Applicable)
  6. Medical Information Release
  7. Over the Counter Medical Form
  8. Self-administration of Medication Form

Step 4: Contact Sodexo, University Housing, Human Resources, and complete facility request forms as needed PRIOR to the start of your camp
