The Inaugural Reading Affair and Reception with the Honors Program

The Inaugural Reading Affair and Reception with the Honors Program on Monday, April 7, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the New Student Amenities Building.

The Reading Affair will consist of the FVSU family and community being invited to read a passage from their favorite book. The attendees will discuss various aspects of reading — enjoyment, significance, and challenges. We are delighted that President Griffith will kick off the event as the first to take center stage.

We will also have Stephany Tullis, author of The Master’s Plan: a novel about purpose, on hand to discuss her book and journey to become published. She’ll describe her inspiration to read and offer steps to those budding authors on how to help their dreams to publish come to fruition. There will be a reception immediately following.

The Truth Poetry Club will read original poems beginning at 5:30 p.m. Anyone with an original poem who would like to share their work is invited to do so during this segment. Two audience favorites will be selected to present during the Reading Affair session. The Reading Affair will be highlighted via FVSU Social Media – help spread the word #FVSUReads!

This is an interactive event and its success is dependent upon the willingness of the attendees to participate. Faculty are encouraged to join in this event and to have students showcase their talents as well.

In support of the Honors Program, the following groups have graciously volunteered to co-sponsor this event: the Political Science Student Association, the FVSU Valley Girls, and the Department of Business Administration and Economics.
