May 6, 2009 – Spectators beamed with admiration as they explored Fort Valley State University’s newest student housing facility for the first time. The Office of Residential Life held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, May 1 to celebrate the completion and grand opening of Wildcat Commons Phase III.
The $16-million, 126,430 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility will provide 378 additional beds for students beginning this summer.
“We’re excited to be taking the living/ learning community to new heights,” said Director of Residential Life Hosea Lewis. “I think the vision is awesome and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.”
The Residential Life team says they are especially pleased with the added amenities which include an intercom system, security cameras and televisions on each floor.
“Today we celebrate yet another victory and sign of progress here at the Fort Valley State University,” said Vice President for Student Affairs Terrance Smith who presided over the ceremony.
