August 17, 2011 – There’s just two weeks remaining before the start of what many are calling one of the toughest seasons in the history of Fort Valley State University football. With the likes of Florida A&M, Delta State and Bethune-Cookman universities lurking in the shadow, FVSU sports fans are invited to see what the Wildcats are cooking up during a full scrimmage on Saturday, August 20 at 6 p.m. in FVSU’sWildcat Stadium.
Saturday’s scrimmage will feature the Peach County offensive trio of quarterback Antonio Henton; wide receiver Chris Slaughter and running back Travis Richmond. Joined by First Team All-Conference tight end Tony Davis and All-SIAC return specialist and receiver Demario Barber—the FVSU offense will confront returning members of the nation’s best NCAA Division II defense.
Pre-season, All-Conference defensive back Ricky Johnson will headline the FVSUdefense with help from fellow defensive backs and pre-season, all-conference selectionsDejuan Williams and Dominique Patterson. Linebackers Courtney Daniel and ReginaldGoodrum will add to the excitement of the clash between offense and defense.
Consistent with the team’s 2011 slogan, “It’s all about Synergy,” fans will get to see one of the most improved areas of Wildcats football— the kicking game. FVSU field goal record holder Justin Rosenbaum and punter Marquette King will showcase their talents in Saturday’s preview.
