The Fort Valley State University Young Scholars Internship Program (YSP) is designed to help exceptional students who are interested in majoring in Agricultural Sciences or Sciences, Technology, Education and Mathematics (STEM). The program will provide hands-on experience to make sure that the students understand the full impact of these disciplines and the opportunities they provide.
The program is six weeks, five days per week, six hours per day, and the students will go home on the weekends. They will leave campus on Friday afternoon and return on Sunday evening. The program’s curriculum will consist of the students taking math classes twice per week and each student will conduct research with a scientist in his/her perspective field of discipline. At the conclusion of the program, the students will make a presentation based on their research findings.
Benefits of the Program
Each student will receive a stipend of $1,134.
The student will gain hands on experience in research as well as experience in writing and presenting research papers.
