FVSU and local officials plan joint 9/11 observance to honor first responders

Fort Valley State University and local officials will honor first emergency responders, service personnel and victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks with an 9/11 Observance Day program on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Patriot Day memorial ceremony will take place at the city’s gazebo located in downtown Fort Valley on Main Street.

Program participants include FVSU student leaders and members of the Wildcat Battalion, with remarks from Lawrence Spurgeon, Fort Valley Public Safety Director; Terry Deese, Peach County Sheriff; and Barbara Williams, Fort Valley Mayor.

The event is free and open to the public.
