Tom Joyner School of the Month- June 2019


Fort Valley State University is the Tom Joyner Foundation School of the Month for the month of June. School of the Month is the Tom Joyner Foundation’s signature fundraiser, raising funds in support of student scholarships and other initiatives to help sustain the selected HBCU. FVSU is one of 11 HBCU’s across the country chosen for this designation. The FVSU Foundation will be accepting donations throughout the month of June. To make an online donation, click the button above to be taken to the Tom Joyner site and select “Fort Valley State University.”

Tahj Anderson

The Hercules Scholarship is awarded to outstanding male students who exhibit academic excellence, demonstrate leadership skills, and have performed community service. The School of the Month selects each Hercules Scholar who will receive a $1,500 scholarship from the Tom Joyner Foundation to help him complete his matriculation and begin his career aspirations. The scholarship is named in honor of Tom’s father, the late Hercules Joyner, who possessed a passion for education.

June’s Hercules Scholar is Tajh Anderson.

Congratulations and Wildcat Kudos to Fort Valley State University’s first Hercules Scholar, Tahj Anderson. Tahj has been selected as this week’s recipient of the $1,500 scholarship from the Tom Joyner Foundation.

This honor student considers himself blessed as he is a Hurricane Katrina survivor. Tahj believes that helping others is a requirement in today’s environment. He is active in the National Society of Leadership and Success, Pride Navigator Program, The Blue Machine Marching Band, and is a peer tutor.
