Dr. Mahapatra teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the food safety, food engineering and agricultural engineering curriculum. He is co-operating editor of an international journal Agricultural Mechanization in Asia, Africa and Latin America (Japan). He has also published a book chapter. He is currently at work on a project entitled Evaluation of in-field production of ethanol from sweet sorghum
