Organizational Leadership


Fort Valley State University offers the Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Organizational Leadership (ORGL) as a USG eMajor affiliate member. The degree is offered totally online. It provides a foundation of required Major courses totaling 30 hours from disciplines that include Political Science, Psychology, Philosophy, and Adult and Career Education. This multidisciplinary approach allows students to develop areas of expertise that best meet the needs of their career paths. The major requirements provide skills and knowledge necessary to develop, analyze and implement policy decisions. Beyond the foundational courses, students choose thirty hours of combined concentrations in Office Administration and Technology, Public Service Administration, or Health Care Administration.

The BS in ORGL is designed to be adult-learner-friendly. In that regard, prior learning assessment (PLA) credit may be available. Students are required to complete 123 semester credits in order to be awarded the degree.

You must be fully admitted to Fort Valley State University in order to take classes in the Organizational Leadership degree program. A student, who is currently enrolled in another college or university and is not a degree seeking student at Fort Valley State University, will be admitted as a transient student. Admissions information, including an application, can be found at

Contact your academic advisor and discuss your academic program of study, including any prior learning assessment (PLA) credits you may have. The online student readiness assessment must be completed before you can register for ORGL classes. The assessment can be found here:

After you complete the assessment you will take a brief quiz to assess your understanding. Once you have satisfactorily completed the assessment, you will receive a follow-up email from an Advisor.

It may take at least 24 hours to update your academic records. The 24 hour period excludes weekends and holidays. After your academic records are updated, you should be able register for classes using your Banner Web access.

You can self-register for course(s) using your Banner Web ID. However, to self-register you MUST have taken the Introductory Quiz AND all Banner Web Holds must have been satisfied. Tuition costs for the totally online BS in ORGL program are different from those charged for on-campus courses. The current tuition is charged at a rate of $250.00 per credit hour plus fees.
