Principal Investigator, Title I Grant from the Georgia Academy for the Blind in collaboration with Drs. Stephen Wills and Rob Sumowski.

Identified and facilitated a process that contributed to the development of independent professional learning communities. Managed and assisted with designing internal pacing guides, encourage the use of evidence-based standards, formative assessments, and data collection for decision-making. Total: $12,999.

2014-Present              
Championed the Call Me MISTER Comprehensive Plan.

Led Drs. Lyndall Muschell, Nicole DeClouette, Larry Bacnik, and Rob Sumowski in drafting the comprehensive plan for implementing the Call Me MISTER Initiative at GC. Included tasks such as researching the literature, meeting with the CMM founder, Dr. Roy Jones, drafting numerous plans, collaborating with the Financial Aid Office, admissions office, and the Office of Equity and Diversity. Currently, this initiative requires serving on the CMM Executive Board to make decisions about creating successful pathways into teaching for minority males.

Managed program scheduling across semesters, completed assessments such as SACS, PAAR, SMART, and Prioritization reports. Facilitated program meetings, monitored online schedules, monitored web postings, conferenced with faculty during problematic situations, implemented summer advisement, and followed all process and timeline expectations for data entry and data management.

2010 -2013                 
Chair, Educational Development Committee of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.

Conducted workshops for 60 African American middle and high school girls and their parents from surrounding counties to attend career development workshops. Girls from Putnam, Hancock, and Baldwin Counties in Georgia attended. Invited Delta Sigma Theta teachers from Putnam, Hancock, and Baldwin Counties in Georgia to assist with addressing topics such as test-taking skills, Math tips, electronic ethics, and cyber bulling. Drs. Rosalie Richards and Chavonda Butler introduced girls to the Science lab in Herty Hall, encouraging them to wear lab jackets. Girls engaged in experiments, made pyramids, experienced the Physics wheel, and participated in solving a forensic mystery. After graduating, several girls attended and are currently attending Georgia College as a result.

Continued the collaborative work of Dr. Sharene Smoot and the local chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). Collaborated with Dr. Linda Bradley, RIF co-coordinator. Managed the budget and worked with a book selection committee to purchase three books for each child in Baldwin County Schools (PK-5 and Early College) on an annual basis. Served a total of 3,306 students in Baldwin County. RIF is a children and family nonprofit literacy organization that receives funding from the U.S. Department of Education.

• Participant, Georgia Network for Transforming Educator Preparation (GaNTEP). Funded, $12,000.00. Start date of funding: August 2015.
  • This is a planning award to support education preparation providers (EPPs) in planning for and implementing Georgia Race to the Top (RTTT) initiatives. Funds were used to investigate the difference between EdTPA scores in 2014 with those in 2015.
• Principal Investigator, Reading is Fundamental ($75,000), Grant supported the purchase of RIF books for children in Baldwin County Schools, 2006.
  • Although Grant ended, RIF distributions continued in P-12 schools due to the surplus of RIF books through 2011.

  • Edward Shapiro, well-known researcher, on Assessment and intervention for academic skills problems, facilitated this workshop. He provided ideas about the implementation of Response-to-Intervention (RTI), universal screenings in Mathematics, and progress monitoring.
