Dr. McCamey has 17 years experience in clinical practice, mental health counseling, clinical social work services, assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and adults. Dr. McCamey has over a decade of leadership and management experience in residential treatment, psychiatric and community base treatment facilities. He has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate (BSW, MSW and MS) level for the past 8 years, and currently serves as the interim chair of Behavioral Science Department at FVSU, which offer undergraduate programs in social work, psychology and sociology and graduate programs in mental health and rehabilitation counseling.

Dr. McCamey is a former faculty member at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where talk undergraduate and graduate students for a period of 5 years. While at UNCW, Dr. McCamey was a part of developing and implementing a new CSWE approved MSW program. Dr. McCamey is a License Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), License Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work (DCSW). He has supervised over 50 MSW and MS clinicians for state licensure for LCSW or LPC. Dr. McCamey professional membership includes NASW, ACA, and 100 Black Men of West Georgia. He has extensive volunteer involvement that includes Head Start, LINCS, Talent Search and Boys and Girls Clubs of Fort Valley, just to name a few.

Publications: 

Dr. McCamey has published manuscripts on issues such as adolescent sexual offenders, diversity and African-American Males. Dr. McCamey has numerous articles in review for publication and is actively engaged in research both as a single author and working diligently with a number of colleagues on several noted research projects. Dr. McCamey was instrumental in bring a 599,000 grant to FVSU in which he coauthored with his colleagues.

Research Interests: 

Dr. McCamey research interest includes mental assessment, adolescent sexual offenders, adult mental illness, poverty and African-American male issues.
