Counseling Degree Program Named Among the Best in the Nation

The Fort Valley State University Master of Science in clinical mental health counseling program was rated as one of the best in the country by Intelligent.com, which recently released a list of the nation's Top 50 Counseling Degree Programs for 2021. With an overall ranking at number seven and an intelligent score of 93.71, FVSU was highlighted as the most affordable quality program.

Intelligent.com, a trusted source for online degree rankings and higher education planning, evaluated each program based on curriculum quality, graduation rate, reputation and post-graduate employment. The comprehensive research included an assessment of 191 accredited U.S. colleges and universities.

"As more Americans seek help for maintaining their emotional and mental well-being, it is essential for universities to offer counseling programs that properly prepare graduates to work with a diverse population of clients in a variety of settings," said Dr. T. Ramon Stuart, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Fort Valley State University. "FVSU is extremely proud to be a leader at helping students develop effective counseling skills and gain broad-based expertise to meet the counseling needs throughout Georgia and the rest of the country."

The 2021 rankings were calculated through a unique scoring system which included student engagement, potential return on investment and leading third party evaluations. Intelligent.com analyzed each school on a scale of 0 to 100, with only 50 making it to the final list.
